From Clinic to Laboratory: Modernizing TB Infection Testing with T-SPOT.TB

Tuesday, July 28
7:00 – 8:30 a.m.
Hilton Anaheim, California A
Presented by Euroimmun US

Overview

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant global health challenge, with accurate detection of TB infection critical for prevention and control. This workshop examines the clinical utility and workflow advantages of T-SPOT.TB, an interferon-gamma release assay (IGRA) for TB infection, across diverse testing scenarios.

First, Dr. Juzar Ali will present a clinical overview of latent TB and review data supporting T-SPOT.TB, including the value of the borderline result category and assay performance in varied patient populations. A laboratory professional will then share real-world experience running T-SPOT.TB on the AP2400 automated platform, highlighting operational benefits and the impact of automation on TB testing.

Outcome

  1. Describe the clinical role of T-SPOT.TB in detecting TB infection, including the diagnostic significance of the borderline result category and assay performance across varied patient populations.
  2. Evaluate clinical evidence supporting the use of T-SPOT.TB as an interferon-gamma release assay (IGRA) for TB infection screening and diagnosis in routine practice.
  3. Identify the operational benefits of automating T-SPOT.TB testing, including improvements in workflow efficiency, throughput, and consistency in the clinical laboratory.
